Seminar on “Development of Two Stage Hydro-Meterological Flash Flood Early Warning System For North-Eastern Haor Region of Bangladesh”

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of North South University organized a seminar titled “Development of two stage hydro-meteorological flash flood early warning system for North-Eastern Haor region of Bangladesh” on March 13, 2018 at Dean’s conference room, NSU. Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Professor, DCEE; Dr. Nazmun Nahar, Associate Professor, DCEE; Dr. Nova Ahmed, Associate Professor, DECE; Dr. Shama Haque, Assitant Professor, DCEE and Ms. Sifat Kalam, Lecturer, DCEE attended the seminar along with the students of DCEE. Dr. Md. Shameem Hassan Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), was the Keynote Speaker of the seminar. At the beginning of the seminar, Former Dean and CEE Departmental Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam welcomed the guests and the audience to the seminar and emphasized on the importance of flash flood early warning system for North-Eastern Haor region of Bangladesh. In the key-note speech, Dr. Md. Shameem Hassan Bhuiyan lucidly explained different forecast systems by using Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and Climate Prediction Tools (CPT) to study the Pre-monsoon flash floods. Later the audience participated in a lively question and answer session. At the end of the session, a crest was presented to the invited guest.
