Keynote speaker: Dr. Faizul M. Mohee, Ph.D., P.Eng., PMP, LEED GA, Lead Civil/Structural Engineer, TMBN Extrados, Toronto, Canada; Adjunct Professor, University of Toronto (teaching 2nd yr Materials Science course); Winner, Ontario Young Professional Award, given by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), 2014; Former Lecturer, MIST in Dhaka; Former Assistant Manager (Civil), PowerGrid, Dhaka.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (DCEE), North South University organized a seminar titled: “Development of an Innovative post-tensioning anchor for CFRP plates for Structural Rehabilitation and Retrofitting and Design of Nuclear Reactor Structures” on June 20, 2019 (Thursday) at 9:30am in SEPS Dean’s conference room.

The seminar was chaired by the DCEE Prof. Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam. The faculty members and students of DCEE participated in the seminar. Prof. Dr. Javed Bari, Dean, SEPS was also present in the seminar. Dr. Faizul M. Mohee, the keynote speaker, shared his personal experience and thoughts/views on Structural Rehabilitation, Retrofitting and Design of Nuclear Reactor Structures.The seminar had a lively question and answer session followed by the presentation. A large number of CEE students attended the seminar and the audience interacted with the keynote speaker during the question and answer session. In the context of constructing the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh at Ruppur, it was an invaluable experience for the students and faculty of the department go get familiar with the technical aspect of such giant construction methodologies. Finally, Prof. Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam concluded the seminar by thanking the speaker for his lively presentation and the audience for their active participations.
