Topic: Road Transportation Sector of Bangladesh: Challenges and Possibilities

Keynote speaker: Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, Bangladesh Road Research Laboratory (BRRL) and Superintending Engineer, Roads and Highways Department (RHD), Government of Bangladesh

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Student Association (CEESA) at North South University organized a seminar on “Road Transportation Sector of Bangladesh: Challenges and Possibilities” which was held on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:00 at AUDI-801.

Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, Bangladesh Road Research Laboratory (BRRL) and Superintending Engineer, Roads and Highways Department (RHD), was the keynote speaker. Dr. Md Shoaib Chowdhury, the faculty advisor, CEESA, began the seminar by welcoming the speaker and audience. Dr. Javed Bari, Dean, SEPS was also present and spoke at the seminar.

Dr. Mamun, the keynote speaker, shared his personal experience and thoughts/views on Road Transportation Sector of Bangladesh, particularly he addressed the key challenges of transport sector in Bangladesh, objective diagnosis of those challenges and art of turning challenges into opportunities.

Dr. Mamun inspired students to pursue their interest in transportation and emphasized that the future engineers need proper guidance through mentorship. He said, “Engineers should understand the socioeconomic aspects of development project and work in a team environment”.

A large number of CEESA members attended the seminar and the audience interacted with the keynote speaker during the question and answer session. Finally, Dr. Chowdhury concluded the seminar by thanking the speaker for his lively presentation and the audience (CEESA members) for their active participations.
