Economics Research Platform

NSU Economics Research Platform

The Economics Research Platform has been established at North South University with assistance of a HEQEP grant worth USD $156,000, with 80% of the grant coming from HEQEP and 20% from NSU. The HEQEP sub-project started on July 2014 under the leadership of Nuheen Khan as the Sub-Project Manager (Lecturer, Department of Economics, NSU). The goal of the sub-project was to create a platform that will facilitate economics research in Bangladesh.

North South University allocated 3000 sq.ft space to set up Economics Research Platform within its Bashundhara Campus, and the facility now contains 30 research pods (each pod consists of a research carrel, high end computer capable of processing large amount of data, licensed empirical software products such as Stata and Eviews, access to journal articles and EconLit), a seminar room with a capacity of 35 occupants and multiple offices and reception area. Economics Research Platform will also be open to undergraduate and graduate students of the NSU Economics Department who are writing their research papers. We are currently in the process of creating a system through which economics students of other departments can access ERP.

The infrastructure of Economics Research Platform was inaugurated on 13th March, 2017. The process of converting the sub-project into an institute under NSU is currently under review.
