Khan Muhammad Saqiful Alam is a lecturer of operations and risk management for the department of management in North South University. He completed his masters from Manchester Business School in Operations, Projects and Supply Chain Management, after graduating from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University. At present, he is the coordinator of Applied Statistics and Risk Management Courses and also the coordinator of NSU Seminar Series for North South University.


In his free times, he has been helping students participate in international competitions (Dell Social Innovation Challenge, Schindler Go Green in the City, HSBC Business Case Award, and The Global Supply Chain Finance Competition by The Cool Connection etc.) and also working in strategic capacity with LightCastle Partners Business Analytics, Teach for Bangladesh (helping them to enhance their presence in NSU) and also with Ten Minute School. Saqiful has also been actively contributing to national dailies such as The Financial Express, The Daily Star and The Brand Forum. One of his core interests are in advising and connecting startups in Bangladesh.


Besides this, he has been also active as a public speaker. He has given speeches in Business Competitions, Case Solving Models and Use of Social models in NSU. He is also an adviser to Podium, an organization by Faculty of Business Studies students of Dhaka University, where he has given speech on career choices and also is helping them expand their operations. He will be taking a session of the Crash Course, organized by Podium, for Dhaka University Students, where he is going to talk about strategic models and how they help in case solving. Very recently he has given a speech in TEDxAIUB on “How I learned about my Career Choices from Stephen Hawking?”


His research interests are in risk management, decision making and behavioral economics, having been published four internationally ranked journal articles in these areas. Apart from research and academia, he is also involved in training and have taken workshops on Supply Chain, Business Models and Process Mapping for the Leveraging ICT program organized by the ICT ministry. He is also working for the Manchester Gold Program, a program for mentoring MSc students for the Manchester Business School, over the net, on their career and research goals.
