Quazi Tafsirul Islam is an academic, teaching Management and Human Resources at the School of Business and Economics. He has completed his Masters degree from University of Dundee, Scotland, UK. Prior to joining NSU as a faculty member, he worked in the banking industry in different capacities in wholsale and retail divisions.

Awarded grant for conducting research for the year 2019-2020: BDT 2,80,000; Co-Investigator with Rubaiya Nadia Huda and Rifat IqbalAwarding Body: North South University Conference Travel and Research Grants (CTRG) Committee. In this study, we aim to look into Human Resource Accounting practices of Bangladeshi companies while trying to study the impact of such investments on firms’ productivity level and their financial performance.

Principal Officer, Associate Relationship Manager, Consumer Banking, Eastern Bank Limited: (July, 2014 to December, 2015): 
• To position the branch as an effective retail sales and service outlet by providing superior customer service for increasing the customer base and achieving the branch asset & liability targets

2 weeks long in house fundamental banking training by internal and external facilitators,
2 months multidimensional inter-department rotation to get focus on each department,
2 months Advanced Training on Banking from BIBM, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management,
and, Two separate three months long attachment in two emerging departments of the bank.

Job Description: 
* Risk Assessment and control
* To ensure approvals are in place for all trade related transactions.
* To handle Transactions relating to Letters of Credit and any other activity assigned from time to time by the Manager Trade Service.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
* To handle primarily Exports, guarantees and/or other Trade products.
* Maintain close relationship with other Trade Dept. teams to ensure smooth flow of transaction processing and meeting / striving to exceed SLA.
* Cascade this relationship downward to all levels among other departments and the relevant units/country team in TPC such that partnership like the relationship is established.
* Maintain partnership like a relationship with the Business unit/Relationship managers and be responsive to their service requirements.
* To review, manage turnaround time of transactions against the SLA and communicate to parties concerned in SSC and RM teams etc. to ensure that the service level meets the target standard.
* Responsible for maintaining the quality standards in line with six sigma / Out-serve requirements in Trade Services. To build up service excellence, customer focus mindset and quality culture in the center.
* Handle complex transactions escalated from subordinate CSR or directed from Head of Trade Services.
* Adhering to Bangladesh Bank guidelines, and western sanctions while processing and issuing LC and other trade-related documents, to avoid penalty from legislators.
