Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Muhammad Maqsud Hossain is an Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics at North South University Biochemistry and Microbiology Department. Maqsud initially studied Microbiology at the University of Dhaka and completed a PhD in Veterinary Medicine and Science (major research areas: Bioinformatics and Computational Biology)  from University of Nottingham, UK (2015). But then re-joined the Department of Biochemistry of Microbiology at NSU after completion of his PhD.  He joined North South University in 2006 and prior to that worked as a Research Officer at ICDDR,B for 5 years.  He is trying to develop bioinformatics and comparative genomics approaches to investigate the evolution of genes and genomes. His research interests are in bioinformatics, comparative genomics and molecular evolution particularly in the fields of pathogen biology, epigenetics and neurobiology. His computational lab is working to develop models to understand human and animal health and disease.
