Prof. Dr. G. U. Ahsan has 25 years of professional experience on the Public Health as a brilliant Academician and Researcher mainly in North South University (NSU) other reputed universities and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Government of Bangladesh. He is an outstanding academic achiever awarded PhD (Epidemiology) as a full bright scholar of the World Health Organization (WHO/TDR)), MPHM, and DTM&H degrees from the internationally reputed Mahidol University, Thailand which is recognized as the center of excellence for higher education and research in Asia. He is the pioneer in establishing Public Health Higher Education in private sector of Bangladesh. He has major contribution in establishing the Master of Public Health Programs (MPH & EMPH) since beginning to the present level of recognition and excellence  at home and abroad as the founder Chairman of the Department of Public Health.

At present, he has been working as Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences and Chairman, Department of Public Health at North South University. He has also been working as the Member of the Technical Advisory Committee, World Health Organization, South East Asia Region, New Delhi, India. He has been serving as the Executive Board Member, South East Asia Public Health Education Institutes Network (SEAPHEIN). He has also been working as visiting Professor/ Scholar of many reputed international universities.  Dr. Ahsan has facilitated  wide collaboration network with a good number of reputed international universities (University of Manitoba, Texas University, Mahidol University, Bangkok University, Assumption University etc) and institutions ( WHO, Public Health Agency of Canada, USAID, ICDDR,B, etc)

He has also been Chair of the many international & national seminars & symposium. He has presented many keynote & research papers in the international conferences. He has been working as the editor & reviewer of a good number of journals. He has more than fifty publications both in internal & national impact journals. He  has been awarded many prestigious International & National Research & Training Grants as a Project Leader/ Principal Investigator namely Eco-Bio-social research on Dengue, Gender & Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Disaster Management, Violence Against Women etc from the Canadian IDRC, WHO/TDR, UNFPA, UNDP,UKAID, CARE Bangladesh. He has been successfully conducted the evaluation of UNFPA-reproductive and child health care program of Bangladesh (64 district) as team leader and principal investigator with financial support of UNFPA, Bangladesh.

At present Dr. Ahsan has also been working as the Faculty Advisor of Public Health Club, and Project Leader of the IDRC-Canada Research Project.
