Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

The BBA degree is offered to provide students with an understanding of the functioning of business from a theoretical, practical, and managerial perspective. The BBA degree is offered with choice of majors in Marketing, International Business, Management Information Systems (MIS), Human Resource Management, Business Policy and Strategy, Finance and Accounting. The core courses develop the foundation in the business area, the general education courses broaden their knowledge base in other areas. The concentration courses provide students with in-depth knowledge in the area in which the student specializes.

Minors in BBA

The BBA Program offers a Minor in each of the concentration areas. Students may choose to do a Minor in addition to their major concentration by completing additional course requirements. The Minor concentration broadens students' specialization and increases their marketability. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA program of the School of Business aims at developing managers and leaders of the 21st century. It is a flexible and career oriented program designed to meet the needs of the professionals in the computer world. The MBA program has been designed following the guidelines of the American ( Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest accreditation body of body of business schools in USA. It is global, computer oriented, fast track, and competitively priced. The program is open to all College graduates. It helps prepare them for a major career change. Faculty members are educated and trained in North American or equivalent universities. Classes are held four days a week (Sun-Wed) starting at 6 p.m. in the evening. The timing helps full-time professionals to attend the class.

Program Description

NSU MBA is a 60-credit program (20 courses of 3 credits) with five major components: (i) foundation courses (24 credits), (ii) advanced courses (15 credits), (iii) integrative courses (3 credits;) (iv) concentration courses (12 credits) and (v) open electives (6 credits).

Admissions Information

New students are admitted to the program three times a year, in Spring, Summer and Fall. Check for the LAST DATE of submitting application in a particular semester. All admission queries should be directed to the MBA Program Office, School of Business. To be ELIGIBLE to apply for admission to the program one must have the following.

  • A minimum of 15 years of schooling prior to MBA.
  • A Bachelor's or a Master's degree in any discipline. Please note that regular two-year BA/B.Sc/B.Com degree does not fulfill the 15-year schooling requirement.
  • Second division/class with 45% or above marks in all public examinations or a CGPA of 2.50 on a 4 point scale in applicable cases.

The final decision on admission is taken on the basis of the following.

  • Academic performance at high school, college, and university level.
  • Scores of the admission test administered by NSU. The NSU administered admission test may be waived if an applicant has scored 550 or above in both TOEFL and GMAT.
  • Interview with the Admission Committee.
  • Work experience in managerial positions.

NSU MBA admission test follows the GMAT test structure. There are five sections in the test. Each section must be completed during the time allotted for that section. The five sections are Reading Comprehension, English Grammar, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Sufficiency and Essay Writing. Usually, a test takes about three hours to complete.


Financial Information

The total cost of the program includes a one-time admission fee, tuition fee, and student activity and computer lab fee per semester. They are mentioned below. Total cost of the program is about Taka 206,500 to Taka 337,500 depending on the standing of the student at the time of admission. All fees are subject to change. Check with the MBA Program Office for the most recent fee structure.

Executive MBA (EMBA)

The EMBA program of the School of Business, North South University aims at developing managers and leaders of the 21st century. It is flexible, career oriented and designed to meet the needs of the professionals in various fields, business, engineering, social science, medicine, and others. It has been designed following the guidelines of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest accreditation body of business schools in USA. It is global, computer oriented, fast track, and competitively priced. Professors trained in North American or equivalent universities, and top-level corporate executives with long industry experience teach in the EMBA program. Classes for the EMBA Program will be held as follows: Thursday at 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Friday at 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday at 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The timing helps working professionals attend the program.

Program Description

NSU EMBA is a 48-credit program (16 courses of 3 credits) with four major components - foundation courses (15 credits), functional core courses (21 credits), and concentration courses (12 credits). Foundation courses prepare students with a broad base in quantitative areas, economics, management and research methodology. They must be completed before taking the functional core courses. The functional core courses comprise of a course in international business (global stone) and four courses in the functional areas of management. Concentration courses in finance, human resource management, management, and marketing develop specialization in specific areas. It is attained through a strategy/policy course (functional capstone). Students are required to take courses in a predetermined sequence (see flow chart) offered through out the year. The EMBA Yearly Schedule helps students make advance planning in taking the courses.   • A four-year Bachelor or a three-year Honor degree or a Master's degree in any discipline
  • At least Second Class in all exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale
  • At least five years of continuous work experience as executive
  • Candidates with a two-year Bachelor degree will require eight years of executive experience to be eligible for admission
  • Candidates will not require a written test but must pass an oral test for admission

The final decision on admission is taken on the basis of the following.

  • Academic performance at high school, college, and university level.
  • Scores of the admission test/interview administered by NSU.
  • Interview with the Admission Committee.
  • Work experience in managerial positions.

Application package can be purchased by paying Taka 500 from the Accounts Office, North South University, 7th floor, Star Tower, 12 Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka 1213. Only completed application with all certificates, transcripts/mark sheets, appointment letters and experience certificates, and photographs of the student will be processed. A complete application will contain the following.

  • Completed and signed EMBA application form
  • Three-passport size signed photographs
  • One set photocopies of all certificates and transcripts/mark sheets must be duly notarized or attested before submission. Incomplete or improper attestation will be void.
  • One set of appointment letter and experience certificate
  • Visiting cards of the candidate and the supervisor

Financial Information

The total cost of the program includes a one-time admission fee, tuition fee, student activity fee, Campus Development Fee and computer lab fee per semester. They are mentioned below. Total cost of the program is about Taka 224,500 to Taka 296,000 depending on the standing of the student at the time of admission. All fees are subject to change.
