This course covers monetary and financial economics at an advanced level. Topics include various models on demand for money such as the transactions cost model, portfolio models -etc; detailed modeling of the money supply process and financial theories such as portfolio models of asset demand (CAPM and so on) and general equilibrium analysis of a monetary economy; analytical study of financial institutions, financial markets and instruments; monetary policy and interest free Islamic banking systems.
