Course Detail: Poverty: concepts, factors and trends; population growth and its effects: malnutrition, food insecurity and competition for space; vulnerable groups: women and children; women in ecosystem management; environmental hazards and intensities; environmental refugees; natural resource management and poverty reduction; agricultural vulnerabilities; problems of access to capital, employment opportunities and training; human resource development programs; current policies and programs for poverty alleviation; agenda for future action: education, training, access to credit, jobs; participatory programs: Grameen bank, other NGOs; developing area- and situation-specific policies and plans; SAARC?s action plan; a national action plan.
