Biotic subsystem: coastal ecosystems, eco-toxicology, marine pollution. Socio-economic subsystem: social, economic, legal and political dimensions. Coastal zone protection infrastructures - beach nourishment, groins, revetments, breakwater, coastal embankment, cyclone shelter. Development options in the coast - tourism and recreation, fisheries, nature conservation. Policy analysis and case studies.
