The course is designed to equip the students about the applied areas of microbiology in industrial pharmacy, its role in production and quality control of pharmaceutical products of industrial importance. The course also includes the detailed study of sterilization process and its applications in pharmacy. Principle and practice of sterilization. Sterilization by dry heat and moist heat; Sterilization by gas, radiation sterilization and sterilization by membrane filter. Sterilization control and sterility assurance. Fundamentals of immunology. Manufacture and quality control of immunological products.
