PHR 311 - Pharmaceutical Engineering-I

Course Detail: This course includes the essential unit operations used in manufacturing of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. The fundamentals of unit operations, such as fluid flow, heat transfer and mass transfer. This course also covers various pharmaceutical process. Drying, theory of drying, drying mechanism, dryers used in pharmaceutical process. Filtration, theory of filtration, different types of filters used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Mixing, mixing process, different types of solid and liquid mixtures. Size reduction and classification. Evaporation and distillation. Crystallization. Construction materials for pharmaceutical machines, equipments and piping system.
