After Molecular Biology I this course will provide an advanced treatment of nucleic acids in terms of their structure, chemical nature and biological functions. The flow of genetic information via replication, transcription, and translation in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes will be introduced. Post-transcriptional events; recombinant DNA; genetic diseases; concepts of gene knockouts will be covered.
