BBT 310 - Laboratory

Course Detail: Students will participate in practical experiments of general Biochemistry and Biotechnology. These includes isolation/separation and assay of biomoleules, enzyme kinetics, protein estimation, separation and estimation of fatty acids/lipids, hormonal effects on biomolecules, isolation of plasmid DNA from E. coli, transformation of E. coli with plasmid DNA, isolation and assay of bacteriophage lambda, and amplification of DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In addition every student will be assigned a separate research project and will be asked to use library, INTERNET etc. to find information and submit a short report on the project. Assignment: Out of 200 marks of this course, 20 marks are allotted for an assignment.
