Bangabandhu Centenary Prize for Research 2020

As part of the national celebrations of the centenary of the birthday of Bangladesh’s founding father, North South University invites applications for a competition for the Bangabandhu Centenary Prize for Research 2020. NSU authority will award one Finalist a prize in the amount of US$1,500 (in equivalent BDT) along with Crest of Commemoration and will also award two Honorable Mention finalists with a Crest of Commemoration.

* All NSU full-time core faculty are eligible to compete. *

A core faculty member who wishes to participate in this competition may submit to the Office of Research-NSU a completed application (on the template provided by OR-NSU) along with a bona fide copy of only one published research item as disseminated in one of the following categories:

  • Indexed, peer-reviewed journal article published during calendar year 2019 through to January/February 2020
  • Peer-reviewed published research monograph (excluding conference proceedings) published in calendar year 2019 through to January/February 2020
  • Peer-reviewed published book from a reputable national or international press.

Competition Review Process

  1. The OR-NSU will collect all submitted research articles, research monographs, and books. (Items can be returned to faculty authors after finalist selection.)
  2. The Director, OR-NSU, will constitute a University Research Prize Review Committee, consisting of the four school deans, four senior faculty, and two external reviewers, selected by the Director, OR-NSU. The Director, OR-NSU, will chair this committee.
  3. The University Prize Review Committee will review and evaluate the research items submitted with a view to recommending one “Finalist-Winner” and two “Honorable Mention” recipients.
  4. Upon concluding the Committee’s review, the Director, OR-NSU, will transmit the Committee’s recommendation formally by memorandum to the Vice Chancellor, including designation of (1) “Winner, Bangabondhu Centenary Prize for Research 2020” and (2) “Honorable Mention 1” and “Honorable Mention 2.”
  5. The Vice Chancellor will authorize the Director, OR-NSU, to announce the final results.
  6. The Winner and Honorable Mention recipients will be awarded the prizes during the Inaugural Ceremony of the NSU Bangabandhu Centenary Celebration.
