SIPG of NSU and UNDP, Bangladesh organized two consecutive training programs on Climate Change and Development Financing related Negotiation Skills

Two consecutive training programs on Climate Change and Development Financing Related Negotiation Skills were conducted on 21-23 May and 24-26 May 2022 respectively at NSU campus. It was jointly organized by the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bangladesh. The aim of these training programs was to enhance Climate Change and Development Financing related negotiation skills of the civil servants and other professionals for Smooth Transition of Bangladesh from LDC Graduation. It was the 3rd and 4th cohort of this Negotiation training series.

The certificate awarding ceremony of these trainings were held on 23 & 26 May 2022 respectively. Professor M. Ismail Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor of NSU and Professor ABM Rashedul Hassan, Treasurer of NSU were the Chief Guests of the programs respectively.    

The participants of this training were the Civil Servants and other professionals from the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Relations Division (ERD), Local Government Division, Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC), Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), Center for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS) and NSU.

 

SIPG's Senior Fellow and former Ambassador, Shahidul Haque moderated the discussion. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of NSU and the Chair of the webinar concluded the discussion with his valuable concluding speech.

 

 Some of the training participants also expressed their experiences and impressions about these training sessions. They said that they are delighted to attend such programs and it has enhanced their negotiation skills which will be helpful in the upcoming days. These training sessions will help them to be more prepared as they will represent Bangladesh in the global arena and strive for achieving the interests of the country in the negotiating tables. Through these training skilled human resources are being built as our country needs more trained personnel to negotiate various deals in future so that Bangladesh can flourish and develop more after the LDC Graduation. Academics, researchers, civil servants, journalists, and students were present at the closing program.
