CPS of SIPG, NSU Celebrates International Day of Peace 2022

The Center for Peace Studies (CPS) of South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University celebrates International Day of Peace by holding a Peace rally, releasing pigeons and planting a tree at NSU on 21 September 2022. This year the motto of Peace day was ‘End Racism, Build Peace’.      

Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of NSU was the chief guest at the peace Day events.  Ms. Rebecca (Becky) Adda-Dontoh, Peace and Development Advisor, & Ms. Flavie Bertouille, Peace & Development Specialist at the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, United Nations, Bangladesh were present at the events.

 
 
Professor Atiqul Islam said that, peace can be achieved through the culture of tolerance, acceptance, patience and ensuring justice worldwide. He also commended the peace day celebration by CPS every year. He then planted a tree at the NSU campus.    

Ms. Rebecca (Becky) Adda-Dontoh said that peace is the most sought out thing in the present world. So, we need to strive for establishing peace and make it sustainable for the sake of humanity. She was also very delighted to join the peace day activities at NSU.        

Many NSU students, faculties and staff joined the rally and other events enthusiastically.     


A National Seminar on “Role of Bangladesh in Global Peace” was also organized by CPS of NSU and Bangladesh Army to observe the International Day of Peace 2022 at Dhaka Cantonment. The chief guest was Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, Honorable Speaker, National Parliament, Bangladesh. And the keynote speakers were General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, SBP, OSP, ndu, psc, PhD, Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army and Ambassador Shahidul Haque, Professorial Fellow, SIPG, NSU & Former Foreign Secretary, Bangladesh.
