NSU holds Launching Ceremony of Two Books


The South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) at North South University held a book launching ceremony for the two books ‘Public Financial Management System in Bangladesh: A Review from a Governance Perspective’ by Prof. Salahuddin Aminuzzaman, Adviser, SIPG and ‘Insights on Trust, Inclusiveness, and Governance in South Asia’, a collaborative publication by faculty members and students of SIPG, NSU. The event was held at the NSU Syndicate Hall on 5 January 2023.



Speakers emphasized the need for effective public governance and efficient public management for maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in South Asia. “Public governance and public management are two principles of democratic development in promoting social justice and equitable development,” they observed during the launching event of two books.



The event was chaired by Dr. Ismail Hossain, Pro Vice-Chancellor of NSU. Mr. Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, Dr. Nomita Halder ndc, Managing Director, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), and Dr. Ishtiaq Jamil, Professor, University of Bergen, Norway, also spoke.


Prof. Aminuzzaman talked about his book on financial management, which primarily targets undergraduate and graduate students, aims to provide an overview of Bangladesh's public financial management systems. The other book draws on research done by young researchers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to shed light on issues of public governance and public management in the South Asia region.


Dr. Nomita Halder said, I found it really interesting how the writers of the book ‘Insights on Trust, Inclusiveness, and Governance in South Asia’ tried to combine their theoretical experiences with the practice they are doing now. This is a very useful book for the South Asian policy makers, academicians and other users of development sector. This book is very unique because the book is written by 8 different authors of four countries of South Asia.


“This book on emphasizes some major elements of governance and policy performance in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Based on empirical data combined with relevant theories, different essays in this book evaluates institutional trust, inclusiveness, collective action, accountability, and women's participation in policy and governance”, Dr. Jamil stated of the book - Insights on Trust, Inclusiveness, and Governance in South Asia.


Deans and department chairmen from other NSU schools and departments, government representatives, researchers, journalists, faculty members, and NSU students also attended.
