Curriculum Vitae

Haniyum Maria Khan is a Lecturer at the Department of Environmental Science and Management at North South University. She completed her second masters in Integrated Petroleum Geoscience from the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alberta, Canada.

Haniyum completed her bachelors and first masters degree from the Department of Geology, University of Dhaka. She worked as a research assistant in a couple of research projects focusing on groundwater and arsenic. She also worked as a volunteer research assistant in the Department of Physics, University of Alberta.

She has experience working in a number of national and international companies where she grew solid expertise in natural resource mapping, exploration, production, and management. She has experience working with stakeholders, government agencies and collaborators in resource estimation and planning.

Haniyum's research interests are in the field of environmental geology and geophysics, GIS, CCS, disaster management and IWRM. Apart from teaching and doing research works, she does photography and has the aim of publishing a photography book which will depict the environmental challenges that Bangladesh faces.
