Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Shazid Md. Sharker completed his B.Pharm (Hons.) degree from the Khulna University, Khulna, Bangladesh. He obtained his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in 2011 from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dhaka University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The title of his M.Phil thesis was “Chemical and Biological Studies of Two Crassulaceous Species Available in Bangladesh.”

Later he moved to South Korea to pursue his Ph.D. under the International Student Scholarship Program, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea. Dr. Shazid obtained his Ph.D. in August 2016 from Professor Haeshin Lee’s Lab, KAIST, South Korea. The title of his Ph.D. dissertation was “Stimulus-responsive Fluorescent Nanoparticles for Theragnosis.” Afterward, he came back home and joined North South University (NSU) on 15th January 2017.

In his doctoral studies at the KAIST, Dr. Shazid researched stimulus-responsive fluorescence nanoparticles, where he developed cancer-targeted and carbonized fluorescence nanoparticles and sophisticated materials for Photothermal Therapy (PTT). Dr. Shazid has got a research training experience from Professor Heike E. Daldrup-Link's Lab, School of Medicine, Stanford University, California, USA. Dr. Shazid has since branched into Nano-Biomaterial applications at KAIST in the research group of Professor Haeshin Lee. He is currently working on the development of fluorescent and magnetic nanoparticles for the theragnostic applications.

Dr. Shazid’s Theragnosis nanoparticles research has been recognized by over 30 major international SCI publications, including prestigious Biomaterials (Impact Factor: 12.48); Nanoscale (Impact Factor: 7.79); Journal of Controlled Release (Impact Factor: 9.78); ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (Impact Factor: 9.23); Carbon (Impact Factor: 9.59); Carbohydrate Polymers (Impact Factor: 9.38); Biomacromolecules (Impact Factor: 6.99); Materials Science & Engineering: C (Impact Factor: 7.33); International Journal of Nanomedicine (Impact Factor: 5.02); Journal of Materials Chemistry B (Impact Factor: 6.33); International Journal of Pharmaceutics (Impact Factor: 5.87); Materials Advances (Impact Factor: 5.0); Seminars In Cancer Biology (Impact Factor: 15.71); International Journal of Biological Macromolecules (Impact Factor: 8.02) and so on.

At North South University (NSU), Dr. Shazid plans to continue to explore the use of nanotechnology to expand the understanding of nanoscale biological interactions. His goal is to develop drug delivery carriers and to discover new uses for nanomaterials with both therapeutic and diagnosing applications. Dr. Shazid is highly interested in training Project (B. Pharm) students and Thesis students for those who are interested in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology & On-demand Drug Delivery, Nanoparticles Synthesis, and Cancer Theragnosis.
