Obituary Mr. Mahbubar Rahman

I am deeply saddened to inform you that one of our Founder General Members of the NSU Board of Trustees, Mr. Mahbubar Rahman has passed away early in the afternoon today, 8th November 2022 (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). He was 91 years of age.

Mr. Rahman was a very successful man. Born in 1931, he was one of the first Muslim graduates from Comilla Victoria College. He was an activist in the anti-British movements. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Dhaka in 1952. He also had a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Studies from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He was a senior government officer in East Pakistan and later in Bangladesh. He was also a Board member of Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Sadharan Bima Corporation, and Jiban Bima Corporation.

Mr. Rahman had a significant role in the founding of North South University. He was also the beloved father-in-law of our Board member, Dr. Junaid Kamal Ahmad. May Allah grant him Jannah and give his family the strength to endure this loss.
