Dr. Azaz Bin Sharif is a Biostatistician by training and obtained his PhD in Biostatistics from the Western University, Canada. He has completed his master's in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the same institution. Dr. Sharif is very passionate about teaching and started his teaching career during his doctoral studies at Western. Right after completing his PhD degree, Dr. Sharif joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences at Western University. Prior to joining the Department of Public Health at North South University in 2020, Dr. Sharif worked at Western University for three and half years.
Dr. Sharif’s primary research interest relies on applying Biostatistical methods in the field of public health. His early research career involved developing waiting time models to minimize emergency department wait times. Dr. sharif has published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals. He is currently involved in different collaborative research projects in the realm of Public Health. His expertise includes the application of sophisticated statistical and operations research methods in the field of Public Health. Dr. Sharif is also fluent in different statistical software and their applications.
Dr. Sharif is a fellow of the Demographic Health Survey (DHS) program, which is funded by USAID. Since 2023, Dr. Sharif has also been working as a facilitator at the DHS fellow mentorship program. There are several publications Dr. Sharif has co-authored that used the DHS data.
