Dr. Rezwana Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, North South University. She completed her Masters followed by PhD from Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, under the prestigious Japanese Government Scholarship MEXT. During her stay in Japan, she also worked in Nagasaki University School of Medicine. Her PhD focused on the impact of cellular aging/cellular senescence on the circadian clock of the cells. The novel finding of her work in Japan was that the circadian clocks start to dysfunction as the cells senesce. Currently, her research interests include investigating the prevalence of certain single nucleotide polymorphisms in the Bangladeshi population and whether these increase the risk of certain metabolic diseases in our population. Dr. Rezwana completed her B.Pharm from North South University, and received the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal for her academic excellence during her undergraduate studies.
