Dr. S.M. Rubyat joined as a full-time faculty member at the Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML) of NSU in May 2016. In December 2024, he received a Ph.D. degree in Anthropology and World Ethnic Groups from Yunnan University, China, and upgraded his rank as an Assistant Professor. Having master's degrees both in TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages) from Yunnan University, China, and in TESOL (Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages) from North South University, Bangladesh, Dr. Rubyat started his career in teaching Chinese. Before joining NSU as a full-time faculty member, he worked part-time at BRAC University and Central Women's University along with NSU. While teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Dr. Rubyat developed his interest in cultural studies and pursued his Ph.D. in Anthropology.

Participated in the “2018 Visiting Program for Young Sinologists” in Chongqing, China from May 9-29, 2018. Participated in the 7th Chinese Bridge Competition-2008(汉è¯æ¡¥ä¸–界大å¦ç”Ÿä¸æ–‡æ¯”èµ›) held at Hunan Television, China after being Champion in the First Chinese Language Proficiency Competition at the Chinese Embassy, Dhaka in 2008. Studied in China with Chinese Govt. Scholarship. |
