Professor Atiqul Islam made new Vice-Chancellor of NSU


The Chancellor and President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid have appointed Professor Atiqul Islam as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the North South University.   Newly appointed VC Atiqul Islam officially joined NSU on Thursday (Feb 25), says a press release.   His last posting was as the Pro Vice -Chancellor of Edith Cowan University in Australia. Earlier he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Government at the University of Canberra.   Over his long academic career, he served at the University of Sydney, NSW, Curtin University, University of Canterbury and the National University of Singapore.  He has a strong track record in negotiating international programs and academic administration.   He also has a reputation for being an innovative, efficient and visionary leader. Now his mission is to lead the North South University to its next stage.   Professor Islam has published in National and International journals. He edited a refereed business journal for over a decade, reviewed articles, reviewed research funding proposals for Australian Research Council and for a Saudi University.   He has supervised and examined a large number of post graduate theses including Ph.D.   He presented papers in international research conferences including the prestigious American Accounting Association, the British Accounting Association as well as the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.   Professor Islam holds B.Com Honours and M.Com both in First Class from the University of Dhaka. He obtained a Masters from the University of New South Wales and a Ph.D from the University of Sydney.   He is also a fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
