Dr Gibran Mahmood

Dr Gibran Mahmood joined his alma mater, North South University, in January 2026 after completing his PhD at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. He brings together rigorous academic research and industry experience.

His doctoral research is situated at the intersection of human resource management and gender studies, with particular attention to how broader societal norms and organisational practices shape women’s career progression.

He has extensive professional experience in banking and financial technology, which continues to inform his research perspective—particularly in relation to labour markets, organisational systems, and institutional inequalities. This is reflected in his sustained interest in bridging practice and scholarship, combining empirical inquiry with real-world relevance.

His broader research interests include workplace inequality and the evolving role of society and institutions in shaping equitable career outcomes.
