I am Sheikh Zobaer, currently working as a Senior Lecturer in the Departmet of English and Modern Languages (DEML), North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I completed BA in English from North South University, and MA in English Literature from University of Surrey, UK. I worked as the Teaching Assistant Coordinator of DEML from Summer 2019 to Spring 2022. I also worked as the Editorial Assistant of Panini: NSU Studies in Language and Litearature, which is the only peer reviewed journal of DEML. I teach Introduction to Literature (ENG 115), Public Speaking (ENG 111), Intermediate Composition (ENG 103), and Introduction to Composition (ENG 102). Apart from Teaching, I have been heavily involved in several research projects, one of which is funded by NSU. I am one of the recipients of the prestigious North South University CTRG Research Grant for 2019 - 2020. My research interests include African-American Literature, African & South Asian Literature, Comparative Literature, and Gender Studies.

I received the North South University CTRG Research Grant for 2019-2020 for the research project titled “Oral Narratives of the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.” The project audio-record 100 oral narratives of the survivors of Bangladesh’s Liberation War to create a digital archive of the memory fragments and stories that have slipped through the dominant discourse of the 1971 Liberation War narratives of Bangladesh. In addition, the research also documented and analyzed interviews of the post-memory generation of Bangladesh across different age groups and investigated how the story and trauma of the Liberation War have been passed on to the post-war generations of Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Shireen Huq was the Principle Investigator of the project, and I was one of the two co-investigators. Four Research Assistants worked on the project to assist us, and I directly supervised two of them. The project has been completed in June 2022.
