About

Mohammad Maksudur Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at North South University, Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D. in Economics and an M.S. in Statistics from Washington State University in 2023. He also holds an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wyoming and BSS and MSS degrees in Development Studies from the University of Dhaka.

Prior to joining North South University, Dr. Rahman served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Washington State University, where he also worked as a Graduate Assistant during his doctoral studies. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with the UKAid- and Australian Aid-funded Chars Livelihoods Programme in Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman's research interests include agricultural economics, international trade, animal disease economics, applied microeconomics, and applied econometrics. His research has been published in leading journals, including the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics. His recent work examines the economic impacts of transboundary animal diseases on international trade, production, and public policy, and applies causal inference methods to address policy-relevant questions.

Dr. Rahman has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught courses in microeocnomics, econometrics, and applied statistics at Washington State University and North South University. His teaching emphasizes rigorous quantitative methods, empirical analysis, and the application of modern statistical and econometric techniques to real-world economic problems.
