Curriculum Vitae

 

Ms. Rouf is a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology, School of Health & Life Sciences at North South University. She holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology & Enterprise from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She has done her Bachelor's in Biochemistry & Biotechnology at North South University.

She has extensive research experience in working with micro-algae and biomarker detection for diseases like Tuberculosis and Chorioamnionitis. She has been involved in the conceptualisation of diagnostic devices as well as the cost optimization work for sex chromosome anomaly detection. Her master’s research project was aimed towards isolating chlorate-resistant mutants in microalgae Symbiodinium and studying the effect of sunscreen on marine microalgae. She is skilled at a variety of bioscience technologies such as Genome engineering, recombinant DNA technology and have training on patents analysis and drafting for protecting Intellectual Property around life sciences.

Ms. Rouf has co-founded a Biotechnology start up ‘Biomasys’ which is registered in the UK and USA. She is leading and executing different projects which include development of preemptive detection device for miscarriage and preterm birth, development of a hospital management software for handling patients records in the underdeveloped countries. She has been winning multiple awards for her venture which includes Kickstarter Awards from Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester for three years in a row, Santander Universities: Accelerate Cambridge Award etc. She received extensive trainings for running start ups with expertise from Accelerate Cambridge (Accelerator by Judge Business School, University of Cambridge) for more than a year.

She is passionate about job creation especially with the goal of mentoring young girls to pursue careers in STEM.
