Dr. Muhammed Mahfuzur Rahman has joined the department as an Assistant Professor in January, 2024. He completed his PhD in Rspiratory Immunlogy from Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland. His research focused on two major respiratoty diseases: Chroic Obstructie Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

His doctoral reserach was conducted at the Repsiratory Immunology Lab of the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Brisbane, Queensland, where he developed and characterized preclinical animal models of COPD and IPF.

Dr. Rahman obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree from Faculty of Pharmacy, Univeristy of Dhaka and his Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) from the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Univeristy of Dhaka.

Dr. Rahman and his research students currently working on developing and characterizing preclinical animal model of Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, various treatments in this model are being evaluated, such as, prophylactic use of sapodilla fruits etc.
