About

Mr. Ishtiak Abdullah is a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln’s Inn and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

Mr. Abdullah is an experienced corporate lawyer with extensive experience advising leading multinational companies, energy-sector enterprises, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), infrastructure projects, and foreign missions in Bangladesh. He previously served as a Senior Associate at Legal Counsel Bangladesh, a leading corporate law firm in Bangladesh, where he worked for five years.

His areas of professional expertise and research interest include Corporate Governance, Energy Law, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Contract Management, and Employment Law.

Alongside his legal practice, Mr. Abdullah has been actively involved in academia. Prior to joining North South University, he served as a faculty member of the University of London International Programme at different affiliated centers. He currently combines legal practice with teaching and academic research.

Mr. Abdullah holds a Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Dhaka. He has contributed to research on anti-terrorism policies and continues to write and contribute to discussions on contemporary legal and policy issues in prominent national newspapers and publications in Bangladesh.

Barrister Abdullah’s research explores the intersection of legal theory and legal practice, with particular emphasis on complex ethical, constitutional, and interdisciplinary questions. His principal areas of interest include constitutional law, corporate law, energy law, professional ethics, human rights, and interdisciplinary legal studies. His scholarship is particularly concerned with how legal principles evolve in response to emerging social, ethical, and institutional challenges, and how they shape judicial reasoning and legal practice.
